Irene Grace Rasmussen

Sept. 22, 1931 – Jan. 16, 2016

Irene was called home to be with the Lord at the age of 84 on Jan. 16, 2016.

Irene was born to Bruno and Mary Sherwin on Sept. 22, 1931, Chicago, IL.

She moved to the AV in 1974. Irene worked for AAFES at Edwards AFB from Sept. 1974 to Jan. 1995. She enjoyed gardening, creating beautiful unique jewelry pieces, and floral arranging.

Survivors include daughter Susan (James) Strom of Las Vegas NV; son Gregory (Kimberly) Rasmussen of Apple Valley CA; daughter Sherri (Wilbert) Jones of Palmdale CA; son Clinton (Debbie) Rasmussen of North Highland CA. Grandchildren John Strom of Las Vegas NV; Mary (Matt) Madura of Vancouver WA; Sara (James) Miller of Las Vegas NV; Kristopher (Nicole) Rasmussen of Hemet CA; Stacey (Alan) Swall of Oceanside CA; Michael (Summer) Jones of Oceanside CA; Bethany Rasmussen of Colusa CA; Alese Rasmussen of North Highland CA. As well as 15 Great Grandchildren. Brother Raymond (Lorraine) Sherwin of Del Plaines IL; sister Virginia Moennich of Fennville MI; and sister Marie Westerlund of Santa Ana CA.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Rasmussen after 32 years of marriage, parents Bruno and Mary Sherwin, brother and sister-in-law Edward and Dorothy Sherwin, brother-in-law Martin Moennich, brother-in-law Edward Westerlund, and brother Stanley Sherwin.

She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Memorial services will be held at Joshua Memorial Park, 44607 Challenger Way, Lancaster CA. 11:00 am. Please RSVP Sherri Jones at 722-7845.
