Leslie Ann Fitts Ament
Leslie Ann Fitts Ament quietly passed from this life on January 7, 2024, at Prestige Assisted Living in Lancaster, where she received excellent care for several years.
Leslie was born in Lancaster on August 28, 1947, to parents Charles and Leona Fitts, delivered by Doctor William Rachmel, who smoked his cigar during delivery.
Parents Charles and Leona (Palmer) Fitts both from Colorado, met at a dance and married in 1946. Charles worked as a civil engineer and the family traveled the country making short stops in Spokane, Washington, Abilene, Texas, and Plattsburg, New York before returning to reside in Rosamond, California.
During her high school years at Antelope Valley High School, Leslie worked weekends at the Tropico Gold Mine in Rosamond as a tour guide.
Leslie was well traveled by the time she graduated from Antelope Valley High School in 1965.
After graduation, she worked at Edwards Air Force Base in Mojave as a secretary for the government before choosing to move to Burbank, California to work for Disney Studios as a secretary. Later, she moved on to work for the Kelley Clark Food Distribution Company, a large food market wholesaler. While there she met Paul Ament, and they married in 1985.
They moved to historic Leona Valley, California and built their home in the beauty of the west Antelope Valley, not far from Rosamond, where her parents lived, and family was nearby.
Leslie began working at Antelope Valley College as a secretary in the maintenance department, moving up quickly to executive secretary in the front offices. She earned her AA degree while working at AVC.
Leslie enjoyed many things in life. She enjoyed returning to Colorado every year visiting relatives. She treasured life in Leona Valley and loved gardening and taking care of her trees and plants. She really enjoyed her dogs and visiting the local thrift stores in search of treasures.
Most of all, she relished hosting family holiday gatherings Thanksgiving and other holidays, and BBQs.
