
Marie Pauline Fischer Demers, 97, passed away, August 30, 2013 in Hawthorne, California. Marie was born July 15, 1916 in Long Beach, California in a small grey house while the family was on a vacation. Her parents were Carl William Fischer and Pauline Eugenia Sandstedt Fischer. She had two older brothers, Alvin Eugene Fischer and Carl William Fischer, Jr., who preceded her in death. Marie married Rodolphe (Rudy) Joseph Demers, September 4, 1938, in Santa Barbara, California. Rudy passed away September 18, 1988 in Lancaster, California, one week and a half after the couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Her only son, Ronald Joseph also preceded her in death (1944-1966). Marie is survived by her three daughters, Suzanne Marie Cockerill, Diane Victoria Biddle, Christine Eugenia Colbert and son-in-law, Russell Colbert; 11 grandchildren; Frank Trevor Fisher, Howard Earl (Tracy), David Joseph, Janel Marie (Monte), Clifford Todd and Joanna Faye Cockerill; Eric Lane (Tina) and Craig Devon Church (Dawn-Marie), Robert Scott Douglass; Audrey Kristine (Joe Hiney) and Jeffrey Thomas Gwynn (Teresa), and 22 great grandchildren. Marie was a respected member in the community. She worked alongside her husband in the Rudy Demers' Insurance business; she served as President of the Optimist Mrs. Club, and was an active member of New Hope Community Church. While traveling through the United States, Canada and Mexico in their motor home, in order to remember the sights they saw, she began painting with oil and acrylic in her 60's and was a gifted artist. Marie was a caring and loving woman, a wonderful Mother and an inspiration to many. A private family service will be held at Joshua Memorial Park in Lancaster, California.
