Norma Jane Smith was born March 19, 1936 to Vernon (Hudson) McCutchen and Thurston McCutchen. Both parents and two brothers ( George and John McCutchen) preceded her in death. Norma was educated in Indianapolis, Indiana graduating from Crispus Attucks High School in 1954.
After graduating from high school, Norma met and married Tommy Smith. This union was blessed with two sons, Tommy and Kenneth. Norma and Tommy relocated from Indiana to California where Norma went to work for Hughes Aircraft Company and Tommy obtained a position with the Veterans Administration. Norma worked for Hughes Aircraft from 1960 to 1991 retiring with 31 years of service. Tommy worked forty years before retiring.
While working at Hughes, Norma received numerous awards such as Cost Improvement Programs which included Missile Development in 1982. She created an execute file on graphics which saved the Company $6,980.00. Norma received an honorary Teaching Certificate, teaching career opportunities to young students. She also received a certificate of Micro-Computers and Information Processing from the Learning Tree University - Department of Computers and Business.
Norma also found time to start her own business - making gift baskets which proved to be very successful.
She left a place of warmth and caring. Where her family came together for sharing a place of love, kindness and joy.
