So sad to hear of Paul's passing.  Spent many wonderful hours with him at DEMA events.  Sold many of his books when there with great joy.  Learned much just chatting with him in our booth each day.

I know this is very late but I was just told about Paul's passing.  I managed the apartment complex where he lived in San Jose and actually rented him the apartment.  Since he went back to Southern California before I retired the end of April, I left without getting to say good-bye to him and hug his neck.  Since I first met him when he came in to rent the apartment from me, he was always one of the most polite, considerate, and nicest young people I ever met.  I also knew his parents and wish I could tell them in person how very sorry I am for their loss.  I cannot imagine what they have been through with his illness and his passing must be unbearable.  Please know that, however late, my thoughts and prayers are with you now and always.

Tears come to my eyes this very moment at the loss of such a man that brought light, laughter and joy with the intelligence of one who can make a difference in this world.  Thank you, Paul, for all the bright love you brought to others and your family.  I thank you for the smiles you brought to me.  My prayers are with Paul and Shelia and your wonderful sister.  May God heal their grief and bring beautiful memories to each day!

I met Paul at Cabrillo College a couple of years ago when I reduced my work load and he took a last minute re-assignment of my Basic English class. Since he taught in the same room immediately after I did, we would banter and I got to experience his gentle demeanor, his unassuming brilliance, and his wit. I enjoyed discussing sci fi and fantasy with him, and bonding over our common background at Antelope Valley College. I was dismayed to learn of his illness, and am now deeply aggrieved that it took him from us at such a young age. My heart goes out to his family, friends and community. Please know that Paul's contribution to the Cabrillo College community has not gone unnoticed, and we will continue to remember him with fondness and gratitude.

Paul was one of the nicest and most brilliant people I ever met. I first got to know Paul when he tutored me in graduate school. He pushed me to do the best I could in that class, and I remember thinking that for such a nice person, Paul could be tough when he wanted to be! I looked up to Paul in so many ways, not just for his teaching ability but also for his kindness and patience. I'll never forget all of our conversations at work and all the times we would walk through the mall and talk about the most random things. I miss you, friend.

Paul brought warmth and light into the lives of those around him. He was one of the smartest and funniest people I ever knew, but he also possessed an amazing ability to always see the good in people and to accept others for who they were. I secretly strove to be more like him in this, and I will continue to do so. 

Playing card and mini games, spending hours talking about Star Trek and Star Wars, wasting lazy summer days at his parents' house playing old Nintendo games: these are some of the best times of my life, and they were spent with Paul. I will cherish these memories forever.

I know that words will never do it justice, but Paul was one of the most wonderful human beings I have ever met. He always found a way to make me smile and laugh and no matter what we were doing, before we parted ways, he would always salute me. He always knew how to make people feel good about who they were and I think I will truly miss his genuine heart. Miss you Paul.

My heart goes out to my cousin and family in the loss of their wonderful son. My fondest memory is of our two sons playing on the swing set in the backyard.  Hold tight of those precious memories and may they comfort you. God Bless.

I have never met a person more authentic, kind, and considerate. Knowing him made me want to be a better person, and I think I am. Many others have felt the same. That's the measure of a lovely life and legacy.

Paul was a lovely young man: bright, articulate, sensitive, and fun!
I'm pleased to report that Paul was, with me, never too sick or exhausted to share a Starbuck's venti mocha, no whip, and a critique of any specific Star Trek episode. It's easy to see why his students loved him--and why I did, too.
