Born in Qulin, MO, son of Elmer and Frances (Deitz), on January 2, 1933 and passed away November 26, 2018.
He graduated at Qulin in 1950 and then joined the Air Force on January 16th 1953. He received an Honorable Discharge December31, 1960 having served time in Korea.
As a civilian, Red supported the Marines and the Army as a radar technical representative in Viet Nam, supporting Monkey Mountain and then riding with the 1st Calvary.
Red worked for ITT spending a year in both the Philippines and Turkey.
He worked at the remote Johnston Island during the Apollo Program and had successfully scrambled to get his unit up for the entry of Apollo 13 should the vehicle had come that far down range. Red enjoyed gardening and even hauled sand into the island go he could grow something.
Red is survived by his sister Lois Crawford and a host of nieces and nephews who loved him very much.
He was preceded in death with a brother, Buell Godwin and a sister Lorraine Colter.
