Renee Richey was an incredible, kind, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and disciple of Christ. She returned to the arms of her Savior on July 13, 2021 at the age of 80 after a long, valiant struggle with Alzheimer’s.
Renee was born to Lee and Martha Cottle on September 23, 1940, the third of six children, and loved her childhood on the family farm. After graduating from high school, she worked for the Prudential Insurance company until she met the love of her life, her husband, Michael Richey. They are the parents of three children: Allison, Sean, and Josh. She fiercely loved her family and devotedly adored her children and grandchildren.
Renee was joyful, loving, loyal, and loved everyone. She had the rare ability to make anyone who spoke with her feel like the most important person in the world. Her smile and laughter lit up her eyes, her face, and any room she was in. She excelled at visiting and story-telling. She loved to have family gather together and every meal with her was an adventure. She loved all sports and could often be found watching every sport from the Indianapolis 500 to the Kentucky Derby to bull riding. She sang in choirs and was happiest filling her house with music, laughter, and love. She fostered friendships that lasted a lifetime; she never met a stranger.
Renee loved her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was a skilled teacher and leader who was quick to serve others and share her talents. The focus of her life was to follow Jesus Christ and help others come to know Him and feel His love.
A funeral service is scheduled for 12 pm on July 26, 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 16509 Hillcrest Ave, North Edwards, CA. A viewing will be held at 11 am prior to the funeral. Her internment will be held at Joshua Memorial Park in Lancaster, CA. She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Charles Michael Richey; her children: Allison (Kevin) Cordes, Sean (Kathy) Richey, and Joshua (Brittany) Richey; 11 grandchildren; her remaining siblings: Carl (LaVaun) Cottle, Ralph (Caroline) Cottle, and LaRell (Bonnie) Cottle; many, many nieces and nephews; along with countless dear friends.
