Richard was an amazing, loving, caring man. He was just like a grandfather to myself, my husband and our children. He would always share his stories with us, encourage my husband and shower my children with love and snacks. When we had to move and had no one to help us Richard at the age of 67 years old not only helped by driving the over large uhaul to our new home but he helped move everything in out of the old house from boxes to couches and into the new house. He was truly amazing and I am depply saddened by this loss but heaven has definitely gained another Angel! Im so sorry for not keeping in touch and even more sorry for not being there to support his beautiful, loving, amazing wife during this hard time and his homegoing. We love you Richard and you are truly missed!

Another memory... Richard loved Perry Mason episodes and Coyote and Road Runner cartoons. When we were young, he was the only brother left at home and we took a vote on shows to watch and i was the only one of 4 sisters who voted to watch Clint Eastwood in Rawhide. Sometimes he had to adjust the antenna, so the shows were clear...had to share...

Uncle Richard was such an amazing man.  I have never met anyone who could remember dates and events like he could.  I remember a visit from Uncle Richard, Aunt Betty, Uncle David, and Aunt Linda.   My mom Lena was so excited to see her siblings.  They had so much fun together.  I remember the stories Uncle Richard would tell in such detail.  I would hang onto every word he would say.  He was a fascinating man who loved his family and siblings.  I am very blessed to know him.  God Bless you Uncle Richard.

This is a letter to my Uncle Richard,
For a man that has been there for over 50 years, for me.
Isaiah 57:2 “Those who walk upright enter into peace; They find rest as they lie in death;”  We are only on this earth for a short time until God calls us home.  Uncle Richard you are now at peace with no pain.   You are now home and I know that all of your family and friends who have already gone before you, have met you at the gates of heaven with their arms wide open.
Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
Psalms 34:18 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”
I know that you had to leave us and you will miss all of the family and friends that you had to leave behind, as we all will miss you.  My heart will be heavy as I will miss your stories and your laughter.

Richard was such a joy to work with. I looked forward to hearing his stories ,which made our shift go by quickly. I can remember his laugh when he new a good part of the story was about to be told but,I'll  always remember his kindness and making a bad environment that we worked in seem as if we were sitting in a park. I will miss our long- long distance chats on the phone! I was blessed to have him for my brother. When I started school in 1960, he took me to Kindergarten at Yucca! And as you would say to me ...

My grandpa was my best friend. Without him, my life would have been pretty crappy. He always made sure my kids and I  were taken care of. He would slip me money or buy groceries for us. He would say “ Better to have too much than not enough”. We would go on adventures when we could. He enjoyed going to baseball events, Griffith Observatory and Catalina Island . I can’t imagine living the rest of my life without him, or him not being there for important moments in my kids life. I could pick up the phone  anytime to talk to him about anything no matter what he was doing. We had a very special bond and he was the best father figure I could have ever asked for. He was the most kind, compassionate and generous man.  I don’t know how I’m going to live with this huge hole in my heart. I miss  you so much.

My brother Richard was always there for me during the good days and the bad. I loved going to lunch and to see our family together. Spending time with him are some of the moments that I will always cherish close to my heart. I've been blessed to have him in my life. He was the best brother. My family and I will miss him very much.

Richard was a gallant Marine and his family can be proud of him and his service. He went through a very tough battle at the beginning of what would become the famous Siege of Khe Sanh. He is also mentioned in several history books of the period, including "Expendable Warriors" by Colonel Bruce. Clarke.   The most recent one is "Last Stand at Khe Sanh" by Gregg Jones.  

I regret not being able to be there in person -  I spend a lot of time in a wheelchair these days - but it was always a pleasure to hear from Richard and discourse about many things. He was a very intelligent and well read man, in addition to being a good Marine.
I am honored to have served with him, and salute his memory.
