Violeta Agustin Gonzales, a longtime resident of Lancaster, California, passed away on Monday September 9, 2019 at the age of 81.
She was born in the Philippines on May 20, 1938 to Mariano and Marcelina Agustin. Violeta is the third of nine children behind Lily Agustin and Benjamin Agustin. Her younger siblings include Samuel Agustin, Flora Agustin Navat, Tyding Agustin Avelino Agustine, Napolean Agustin, and Reynaldo Agustin.
Violeta married Prudencio Gonzales in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1963. They made their home in Lancaster, where she lived for 56 years.
Violeta studied nursing at Far Eastern University in Manlia, but ultimately chose a career in aerospace. Her 28 years in the industry included jobs with Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Boeing. Violeta was also a proud part of the Space Shuttle Program at Rockwell, where she helped build the Enterprise, Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis, and Endeavor.
Violeta was a member of Lancaster Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where she volunteered as a greeter and sang in the choir.
She was precede in death by Prudencio her husband for 34 years. Violeta is survived by her four children, David Gonzales, Lisa Thomas, Donna Wexler, and Michelle Gonzales. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, David Gonzales, Amanda Gonzales, Tessa Walton, Sydney Wexler, and Benjamin Wexler.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday September 21, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at Joshua Memorial Park 808 East Lancaster Blvd, Lancaster, California 93535.
