Mr. Baria was born on September 14, 1942 in Ilocos Norte, Philippines. There he grew up around the family farm, helping raise all types of animals. As a teenager, he spent most of his free time playing basketball with his friends. He then went on to study at a vocational school where he met his wife, Fely. After he graduated, he worked as a sea man at different ports for several years before moving to the United States in 1976.
While living in the United States, he decided to pursue his dream of opening his own diner, where he also worked as a chef. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping and playing mahjong. But most of all, he enjoyed being around family. He often took vacations to his hometown in the Philippines. In his last year of life, he loved spending time with the family dog, Shasta, a man’s best friend. They would watch TV together and even shared meals at times.
He is survived by his wife, Fely Baria; daughter Felicitas Dondoy; son Cornelio Baria Jr; grandchildren James, Jenny, Jason, Nicolle and MJ; and great grandchildren.
Cornelio Baria will be laid to rest at Palm Northwest Cemetery in Las Vegas, NV.
