Alexander "Alex" Joseph Forgette, 92, passed away peacefully in Las Vegas, NV on July 18, 2018. Alex was born in Chicago, IL on February 27, 1926 as an only child to Alexander Forgette, Sr and Florence (Perry) Forgette.
Alex was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Ruth (Scott) Forgette, his second wife Mary Irene (Lambert) Forgette, and his step-daughter Valerie Carson.
Alex is survived by his daughter Teresa Meek, son Steven Forgette and his wife Deanna. He had six grandchildren: Timothy and Thomas Meek; Alexander, Nicholas, Spencer and Katharine Forgette. He will be dearly missed by his long-time caregiver Yvette Preciado who dedicated so many years to his and Irene's care and happiness.
Alex was a military veteran, having served in the US Army during WWII. He then became a businessman, owning and operating a small chain of candy stores in the Los Angeles area called Forgette's Candy. He later fulfilled a long time dream, earning his law degree in 1968 after attending night school and graduating from San Fernando Valley College of Law. Alex became a successful and highly regarded criminal defense attorney in Newport Beach, CA. Later he and his wife Irene retired and moved to Las Vegas, NV.
Alex was a loyal Los Angeles Dodgers fan, loved horse racing, was an avid golfer, and enjoyed the casino. He was a consummate host, a fantastic storyteller, and a talented pianist. He owned and piloted a single engine plane often flying friends and family. He and his wife Irene traveled extensively throughout the world. Alex remarked many times in the last years of his life how lucky he was to have been married to two wonderful women. He often said he did everything that he had ever wanted and had lived his life to the fullest. He truly loved his family, his friends, and his beloved dogs Angel and Jackie.
