Jerry grew up in Le Mars with brother Ron, half brothers Jim and Larry, and half sister Elaine. Later there was a move to Sioux City. In 1953 the family moved to Phoenix, Arizona where Jerry graduated from Alhambra High School in 1964 and later attended college. He worked in various jobs in retail grocery stores and later served in the U.S. Air Force. In the 1970's Jerry moved to Las Vegas where he continued in food supply retail jobs until he was employed by the state of Nevada Department of Employment Training and Rehabilitation where he worked until retirement.
Jerry's interests and hobbies were many. He liked music and as a young boy played the accordion and in high school he was a member of the orchrestra. As an adult he liked golfing with his friends, target shooting and he especially enjoyed cooking which he was an excellent one.
He will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends he made through the years in Iowa, Arizona and Nevada.
