Alfred (Al) John DelMastro, United States Air Force (Ret.), passed away peacefully on Monday, November 17 surrounded by his sons, daughter in-law and beloved Debra.
Alfred was born in Lindenhurst, Long Island, New York and would later move to northern California, Ogden , Utah and settled in Las Vegas, Nevada. He began his career in the United States Air Force at 18 years old as a jet engine mechanic. Through the Air Force, Alfred was able to travel the world and start a life for himself. His decades of military service allowed him to build life long lasting relationships, a life rich with adventure, dedication, and love. Following his retirement, he settled in Las Vegas, Nevada and started a second career as a security officer at a local casino, which he was proud of.
He was a friend to many, a father, and grandfather, Alfred leaves behind his love, Deb, sons Anthony and Dana daughter-in-law Kelly, and nine grandchildren—Kymi, Isabella, Sammy, A.J., Christian, Amara, Andres, Sophia, and Eva—as well as his Long Island Friend's and a special furry friend “Rabs” who will continue to hold the fort down in the backyard.
Alfred lived a remarkable life filled with accomplishments, challenges, service, and unwavering strength. His long career allowed him to soar across the globe, participate in many operations and yet he always remained committed to the Air Force. He will be forever remembered as for his stories, his whit, his strength and an overall great friend, full of wisdom, and character.
Though he is deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing he is reunited with his mom and brothers once again.
