Raised in Cedarhurst, NY by his parents, Alfred and Olympia Leone, he was the devoted husband of Rita Leone (née Tudda) for 60 years and the loving father of Michael, Melissa, and Robert; a proud grandfather of five and great-grandfather of one.
The eldest of four siblings, he is survived by his brother, John Leone, and was predeceased by Donald Leone and Marie Ruff.
A proud veteran, he served honorably in the United States Army as a Private First Class (PFC), including service in Korea.
He dedicated 35 years to the telecommunications industry, working for the phone company through its many evolutions (AT&T, NYNEX, and Verizon).
His passion for history and all things Long Island led him to devote years collecting maps, articles, and artifacts, preserving the stories and heritage of Cedarhurst and the Five Towns, areas he deeply cherished.
Known affectionately to family and friends as Al or Freddy, he will be remembered with respect, gratitude, and love by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on February 4, 2026, at Palm Mortuary and Cemetery, Centennial Hills, Las Vegas.
