

Amanda Dawn Petty passed away February 7, 2025, at Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. She went peacefully after suffering from pneumonia. She was 42 years old. Amanda was born in Henderson, Nevada to Steven Ray Petty and Colleen Evans Petty. She is the youngest of four children.
At the age of two, she was in a drowning accident which caused her to be in a wheelchair. Despite her disability she grew to love music, dancing, and genealogy. She was able to attend one of her favorite groups, N’SYNC’s, concert on three occasions. She loved poetry and was an avid author. She loved to share her poems with everyone and displayed them on her website Pretty Petty Poetry. She would be hired to write a poem for others special occasions. She attended Brown Junior High, and graduated as a Junior from Basic High School in Henderson, Nevada.
She enjoyed playing Miracle League Baseball and Soccer. She loved to use the nickname “Hot Rod”. She loved collecting key chains and always wanted to go visit Paris. She had a black labrador she named Shadow that held a special place in her heart.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and attended seminary for years during high school. She received her endowment in the Ogden Utah Temple on July 5, 2016, and loved attending the temple as often as she could. She held several callings throughout the years, namely Ward Communications Specialist, Relief Society Greeter and Sacrament Greeter. She also served as a service missionary for a year and a half doing Family Search.
She loved everyone, especially her family. She was always joyful and touched the hearts of everyone she came in contact with. She also loved hearts and red roses and displayed them everywhere she could. She loved giving rides to her nieces and nephews on the back of her wheelchair. She is survived by her mother, Colleen Petty, and brothers and sister, Sheldon Petty (Natasha Petty; Las Vegas, Nevada), Carrie Cottle (James Cottle; Cottonwood Heights, Utah), Jesse Petty (Shannon Petty, Henderson, Nevada), four nieces and four nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Steven Ray Petty (whom she always called “Papa Bear”).
