

Amelia Gan-Montefalcon (RN), 75, passed away Monday, May 10, 2010. A 10-year resident of North Las Vegas, Amelia was born on July 7, 1934 in Oriental Mindoro, Republic of the Philippines to Sermilliano Gan (father) and Cecilia Crisostomo (mother). She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing form the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Republic of the Philippines , in 1957, and there she met and married Zoilo Montefalcon on May 20, 1961. She spent 10 years as a faculty member teaching nursing at the University of Santo Tomas until she immigrated to the USA with her family in 1969, and they were naturalized as US citizens in 1976. She continued teaching nursing for 10 more years at St. Anthony Medical Center School of Nursing in Rockford, Illinois, and then the next 20 as a Nurse Manager at Swedish-American Hospital, Humana Hospital, and Northwestern Memorial Hospital in the greater Chicago area until her retirement in 1995. Amelia was a loving and dedicated mother who enjoyed cooking and traveling with her husband and children. She is survived by her husband, Zoilo, her sisters Ma. Isabel Gan, Flordeliza Gan, Remedios (Gan) Concordia (Bobby), Lolita (Gan) Javier, Adela (Gan) Dela Luna, and her brother Delfin Gan. She was blessed with her children Maria Montefalcon Dubasik (Derek), Ignatius Montefalcon, and Angela Montefalcon Seiders (Bill) and her grandchildren Nicole Dubasik, Cristen Seiders, Kaila Seiders, and Brianne Seiders. Visitation with the family will be 12:00 Noon to 7:00 pm on Wednesday May 13, 2010 at Palm Mortuary Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am at St John Neumann Catholic Church with graveside services immediately following at Palm Memorial Park Northwest.
