

Andrew Charles Simms passed away on May 11, 2019 at the age of 48, just a few days after experiencing a sudden illness in Alaska. Andrew was born on January 18, 1971 in Springfield, Illinois. He was called "Drew" by most of his friends and was known by all for his easy smile, friendly personality, and willingness to work hard. He would never refuse a favor for friends and co-workers. As a child, Andrew lived in Havana, Illinois; Pretoria, South Africa; Natal, Brazil; Canberra, Australia; Pepperell, Massachusetts; and Las Vegas, Nevada. Andrew was a skilled equestrian in his youth and competed in Pony Club One Day Eventing, Show Jumping and Gymkhanas in Australia and Massachusetts. He attended Chaparral High School in Las Vegas. During high school, Andrew ran cross country and played football. When he was 16, he started working for Office Plus in Las Vegas and was later promoted to General Manager. Since late 2015, he served as the General Manager of Office Plus' Juneau, Alaska location. Andrew spent 32 years in total working for Office Plus where he made many friendships with co-workers, suppliers and customers. Andrew was preceded in death by his parents Julian Talmadge Simms and Susan Francis Simms of Las Vegas, Nevada. He is survived by: daughter Colby Ryan, and her mother Rachael Savalli of Henderson, Nevada; his brother Michael John Simms, sister in-law Sandra Larson, nephew Sean Lucas Simms and niece Kylie Morgan Simms of Greenville, South Carolina; his brother Nicholas Anthony Simms, niece Raegan April Simms and nephew Alexander Julian Simms of Houston, Texas; his aunt Jenny Porter and uncle Max Porter of Mandurah, Western Australia; uncle Phillip Morgan and aunt Tori Jones of Perth, Western Australia; aunt Chantal Morgan of Perth, Western Australia; cousin Annette Porter of Mandurah, Western Australia; cousins Michelle Morgan, Steve Morgan, Paul Morgan and Sam Morgan; Nikki Hanley, Jodie McDonald, Maia Frewer, Tania Morgan, Lili Morgan, and Chet Morgan of Perth, Western Australia; and cousin Lin Devon of Glenview, Queensland. A visitation for Andrew will take place at the Palm Downtown Mortuary, 1325 North Main St. Las Vegas, Nevada 89101 on Saturday, May 25, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Andrew will be buried near his parents at the Palm Eastern cemetery in Las Vegas, Nevada.
