We are heartbroken to share that Anna Maria Clayton passed away on January 3, 2024, in Las Vegas, Nevada surrounded by her family. She was born in Mishawaka, Indiana on October 13, 1952, to parents James Henry Butler, Sr. and Elsa Marie Butler (Hufkens).
Anna Maria, 71, was a long-time resident of Mishawaka in the West End and lived a beautiful and devoted life of faith and dedication to her family and friends. She served St. Bavo Parish as the Director of Religious Education for over 30 years and worked with children as a paraprofessional at LaSalle Elementary School after retirement. Anna Maria enjoyed baking, crochet, sewing and travel. She loved making sure anyone who visited had a meal with homemade dessert, and consistently contributed to community events. The most important achievement to her was the impact she made on the children throughout the years, whether it was babysitting, the Religious Education program, sports and school activities of her daughters and granddaughters, or collaborating with WINGS to support various projects. More recently she became and advocate through rescues to save furbabies.
Anna Maria was predeceased by her parents and brother, James Henry Butler, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Dennis Clayton, daughters Kelly Adams (Clint), Kimberly McGee (Ricky), granddaughters Ariana McGee and Jenna McGee, sister Ruthann Shanley, and brothers Charles Butler, Raymond Butler (Peggy) and Edward Butler, along with nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and her furbaby Bubba.
Services will be held in Mishawaka, Indiana on a future date. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made in her memory to the American Lung Association to advance the study of Sarcoidosis or the National Center for Learning Disabilities to provide resources to the students she was proud to assist.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.palmnorthwest.com for the Clayton Family.
