

Anthony Garofano, age 82, a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada for 16 years, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017. Anthony had been ill for the past couple of years and had been in and out of hospitals. For the last 7 months, he lived in a group home where he received very good care. He was always surrounded by family and friends who loved him. Anthony was born in New York City On January 9, 1935. He moved to Staten Island, NY after he married, where he raised 4 children with his wife, Veronica (Ronnie). He created a wonderful life for his family that was filled with so much love, fun and many good memories. Anthony worked as a lithographer on large printing presses. In his free time he enjoyed working on his cars, and in his printing shop in the basement of his home. He also spent a lot of time with his family, who was very important to him. They spent much time down at the shore for summer vacations, at the parks, going to get ice cream at Carvels or just sitting around a big table for dinners. He based his entire life around his family. He also placed much importance on his Italian heritage. He loved Italian food and spoke Italian to anyone he met. Anthony was a veteran of the Korean War. He was enlisted in the Army for 2 years where he worked on artillery tanks. Anthony is preceded in death by his wife Veronica, his daughter, Christina; his brother, Jackie; his mother, Lucy; and his father, Joseph. He is survived by his son, Anthony; daughter, MaryAnn; sister, Fran; brother, Corky; son-in-law, Rob; daughter in-law, Monica; 5 grandchildren, Heather, Michael, Samantha, Brian and Dante; and a loving woman, Alis who cared for him until the end. A visitation will be on Saturday, March 25 from 12-2pm and funeral to follow. Both will be held at Palm South Jones Mortuary at 1600 South Jones Blvd Las Vegas, NV 89146. Burial on Monday, March 27th at 12 noon at Sothern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
