

Anthony was born in Semarang, Indonesia to Bertha and Anthony Sotyakentjana on July 7, 1939. He was the second of 5 children, with older brother Poo Hien, and younger siblings Poo Liang, Swan, and Harry. As a young child, he lived through World War II invasions in Indonesia. His family was poor and struggled with little means. He earned money by sculpting and painting ceramic pottery and developed a talent for art and creativity. He loved to read and draw and became an outstanding student who earned money tutoring high school students. He graduated from a prestigious engineering university, Institute of Technology in Bandung.
As a senior architectural student, he submitted a design that was selected in a design contest, later to be erected as Monas, the current National Monument of Indonesia. In Jakarta, he also designed shopping malls, a planetarium, and other buildings. In the United States, he worked as an architectural engineer for Bechtel Corporation in San Francisco, where he designed nuclear power plants. Later in his career, he became a Real Estate Developer, serving as Vice President for Lakeside Development in Honolulu, HI and President for Calpac Enterprises in Los Angeles, CA.
When he was 16, he met the love of his life, Non and they married on April 19, 1964. They had two children and immigrated to the United States in 1969. After retiring from real estate development, Tony and Non built a real estate empire, forming their own real estate companies, buying and selling real estate in California, Honolulu, Las Vegas, and Seattle. They loved each other deeply and spent every day of their later lives together. They traveled the world, visiting every continent, and had many friends who they loved spending time with. He was a great family man who always made time for his children and grandchildren. His son, Edwin is a dentist in California, who is married to Tricia and had 4 children, Julia, Joshua, Jacob, and Justin. His daughter, Meta is a Pediatrician in Washington, who is married to Jeffrey and has 2 children, Melanie and Christine. He loved his family dearly and was there for them whenever they needed a babysitter, chauffer, or fatherly advice. He was a great listener, and a great role model who taught his children to be bold, hardworking, courageous, relentless, generous, patient, kind, and compassionate. He passed on December 28, 2025, after a 7-year battle with advanced liver cancer, surrounded by loved ones.
Final Viewing will be held at St Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, located at 6350 N Fort Apache Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89149, on January 17, 2026, from 11:00 am to 11:45am.
The Funeral Mass will take place at the same venue on January 17, 2026, at 12:00pm.
The burial service will follow at Palm Northwest Cemetery, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131, on January 17, 2026, at 1:00pm.
A lunch-celebration of life-eulogy service at Palm Northwest Mortuary will begin at 1:30pm immediately following burial services.
