

Barbara Gracey passed away surrounded by loving family and friends on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. She was born August 22, 1957 in Whittier, California to Frank and La Ferne Hanlon. Barbara has been a resident of Las Vegas since 1985.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank & LaFerne Hanlon and brother, James Michael Hanlon. Barbara is survived by Michael, her devoted husband of 23 years, stepson Shawn Gracey, of Denver, Colorado, brothers; Richard Hanlon of Colorado Springs, Colorado Patrick Hanlon of Boise, Idaho, and John Robert Hanlon and wife Tara of Woodland Park, Colorado, sister, Mary Ott of Las Vegas, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Barbara worked tirelessly as a legal secretary in the Las Vegas community for more than 30 years. She was instrumental in helping set up the Las Vegas Public Defender’s Office where she continued to work for ten years.
Barbara could light up a room with her radiant smile, beauty and kind heart. She loved the ocean, beach and spending time in Hawaii. She had an unwavering faith in God and a deep compassion for others. Barbara was a dear friend to many and quietly practiced her faith by being quick to respond to any person or animal in need. She fed and served homeless people and feral cats as well. She will be missed by her beloved furry friends Jac and Tiki.
The family would like to extend deep gratitude to cherished friends Laura & Bruce Medeck, Doug & Shirley Newsham and cousins Ron & Suzanne Johnson for their loving care and support which allowed Barbara to live her final days with dignity, respect and love.
Barbara’s life will be celebrated at a Mass being held on Thursday, May 17, 2018, 2:00 pm at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Parish, 1111 Michael Way, Las Vegas, Nevada.
