

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Jo (Jacobson) Taylor, who died peacefully at her home on March 1, 2025, at the age of 84.
Born on May 18, 1940, Barb was the first of four children born to Silas and Lucille (McPeek) Jacobson. Raised in Story City, IA, she embraced her Norwegian heritage and Lutheran faith throughout her life. Barb graduated from Story City High School in 1958.
On September 4, 1960, Barb married her husband of 64 years, Larry D. Taylor. Together they raised their family of four children in Indianola, IA. Barb had a passion for being busy. She had a love for flower gardening and enjoyed tending the iris, wildflower and rose beds that filled the backyard. She enjoyed reading cookbooks and turning recipes into delicious treats for family and friends. The many varieties of Christmas treats she made each year are legendary.
Barb worked for the Indianola School District as the district’s Food Service Director.
In 1999, Barb and Larry retired to Las Vegas, where they enjoyed the freedom to travel to many countries, have great adventures and create new memories. One of Barb’s unique gifts was creating beautiful, handmade greeting cards, which she sent to friends and family to brighten their days.
Barb is survived by her loving husband, Larry; their four children, Richard Taylor, Kimberly Mosher (Ted), Kira Zurbay (Don) and Melissa Taylor; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Mosher, Ricky Taylor, Cameron Peterson, Taylor Weishaar (Ryan), Logan Peterson and Hailey Rittenhouse who will cherish the memories of her unwavering love and support. She is also survived by siblings Mary Brown (Ken), Brad Jacobson (Karin), Kirk Jacobson (Judy) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Silas and Lucille (McPeek) Jacobson.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Las Ventanas Foundation Benevolence Fund in Barbara’s memory.
