My condolences go to  the Iway family. Going to church with you for many years in Elkhart. Delivering my baby and I remember him telling that’s not what he liked doing. Taking care of my mother Loretta for many years and she thought the world of him.

As a native of Danao City, the Philippines,  Dr. Belino Derecho Iway at his own liking and choice wanted to be part of the ever-growing influx of immigrants from Cebu.  

Privately, we planned to hold a grand reunion at his estate in Las Vegas, Nevada in June 2020.  The coronavirus never did allow us to hold that dream until this very day.  

No worries and no looking back Belino  but,  when the ripe time comes we should be able to fulfill that dream even closer than the 6ft. social distancing that science tells us to do. 

The Cebuanos in America {CIA} and the Durano Ka*Liwat Inc. are sending you with our Love and Thanks to your service to the community and the people you love.

To the family behind, Olive {Dr. Olivia Iway} and children, same deal - we Love You All as well. 

The family of Ben and Chita Durano in Portland Oregon and Danao would like to send our condolences to the family of Dr. Belino Derecho Iway.   
As a former neighbor in our old Danao,  he was like a handyman to friends and relatives who needed  his professional help with a simple TY.  His death is a tragic loss to our family.  Too much to remember and account all the "goodies" he has done for all of us through all these years.

Grandpa and grandma Iway are the Asian grandparents I never had. They welcomed Emma (my sister) and me into their home and treated us as one of their own grandkids. We spent many holidays, games nights, Filipino get togethers, dance festivities, and dinners together over the years. One my favorite memories is the many sleepovers we had with all the cousins at their house in KC and we’d wake up to grandma cooking rice and eggs while grandpa was turning over the turkey bacon. 

When I was in college one of my Dive meets was in Vegas. They came to see me for a bit and then we went out to lunch and to their house for some down time. I loved catching up, chatting about my studies in biology and  our passion for medicine. 

Thank you for introducing the Filipino culture to me, many stories of Elkhart, the encouragement to pursue medical school, and love of being an honorary grandkid! 
Love and miss you grandpa! 

Jack and I traveled to Vegas over the summer to visit with Grandma and Grandpa! We got to see family, hang out, play games, and eat lots of food!

My favorite memory with grandpa is going over to their house to eat eggs, bacon, and rice for breakfast with all my cousins🤍

Dad laughed at his own jokes and made simple get-together fun. 

Dad was a family man first. He was strict, loving, and funny. He injected humor and laughter in everything. 

Dad was born to heal others. He often said he wasn’t the smartest student but he was diligent and removed himself from distractions so he could pursue his goals. This photo was taken in his  first days as a new physician in Elkhart. That sparkle in his eye comes from finding purpose and joy in life. I miss you and love you Dad!

Doctor was loved by many, and he will be missed. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.
