He was affectionately known to all as “Ben”, “Benny” or “Rocky”. Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Bernardino and Maria Domenica (Petrilli), his loving wife Dorothy (Innes), his son Michael Rocca and his brothers and sisters, Pietro, Benedetto, Alberto, Maria, and Alessandrina.
The family dynamic was unique with so many people who were very special to Benny. He adored his son Joseph and daughter-in-law Teresa and lived with them in his ending years. Teresa’s sister, Cecelia, played a big role in his life. He loved his daughter Sandi (Alesandrina) Anderson and her husband David. He loved all his grandchildren - Maria, John, Jessica, Michael, Benjamin, Melinda and John David, and all his great grandchildren - Tyler, Adelina, Ava, Addison, Dakota, Kendall, Mya, Hudson, Hayes, Jana and Nora. He was happy and proud to know that little Harrison would soon be born. He is very loved and will be missed by his many nephews, nieces, and Godchildren. Our dad found a way to love everyone. It’s what made him unique.
Originally from Astoria, New York, he was a proud founding member of the Astoria Rams Social Club. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps (USMC) and proudly served during the Korean War. His sense of loyalty was apparent in all his relationships, including those he worked with at the NYC Water Department and Construction Laborers Union. Ben truly appreciated the camaraderie he shared throughout the years with the many people he befriended. He entertained everyone with his jokes and stories, his mind forever sharp and full of memories. His storytelling will be remembered forever by many. He loved animals, including Ziggy, his full-size pet pig... no easy feat living in NYC. He'll be missed by Guido and Stella, who kept him company throughout his day. Ben wasn't a rule follower, he did it his way❤️.
Per his request, a military service will be held at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City on May 20th, 2025, at 10:40 am.
