Bernice Ann VanderWel Fildes, age 81 of Summerlin, a homemaker, passed away on Thursday, May 8 in Las Vegas. She was born July 23, 1932 in New York City, grew up in the Bronx and lived in Poughkeepsie, New York for 40 years before moving to Las Vegas in 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband, John and brother Peter VanderWel. Survivors include her children Barbara (Keith Quinton) Fildes, John (Elizabeth) Fildes and Gregory (Cynthia) Fildes; grandchildren: Sean McManamy, Kathryn (Gardiner) Parker, Jared and Nina Quinton, Chris, Michael, Elizabeth, Pieter, Anne and Rebecca Fildes. She also leaves behind her sister, Martha VanderWel Falcone, four nieces and their families, neighbors, friends and her companion dog, Missy. A memorial service will be held at 6pm Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Burial will take place in Poughkeepsie, NY.
