Betty Bevilacqua, age 83, passed away on October 23, 2020 in her home in Las Vegas, Nevada with her husband and 5 children all by her side. She was born on July 6, 1937 on Manhattan Island in New York, New York to parents Richard and Evelyn Wellington. She had three siblings Thomas, Joannie and Willie and growing up in New York City during World War II was exceedingly difficult. But when she was 15 years old, she met the love of her life, Angelo Bevilacqua, Sr. driving down the street on a Pepsi truck wearing a cowboy hat and that began her next journey.
Betty and Angelo were married for 62 years and they have 6 children: Lisa, Dina, Angela, Rosette, Babette and Angelo Jr. and 9 grandchildren: Nicole, Jessica, Eddie, Eddie, Angelo III, Dominic, Giovanni, Lynnea and Nikko and 1 great grandchild: Stevie. Betty took on the role as a wife, mother, and caregiver. She was most proud of her family and always said her kids were her life. She made sure that her children spent time with each other, and family vacations were a must every year no matter what. On her down time, she enjoyed going to the Sons of Italy or spending weekends in Atlantic City. And then after 43 years, Betty and Angelo moved to the West Coast and have been a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada for the past 19 years.
Betty would not miss a beat and would fly back to New York with her husband to attend parties, graduations, births, weddings, holidays or just take the time to spend with her family. Betty was a true patriot and enjoyed many things in her life such as drawing and painting, eating chocolates and giving her grandkids these treats at any hour of the day, playing bingo and slot machines, singing and listening to music, renting a destination house for family trips, dressing up her children in the finest clothes, drinking chardonnay and martinis, watching and reading true crime stories, going on cruises, and telling or writing very elaborate stories to her kids and grandkids. Creating family Italian traditions were very important to her and Sunday dinners, making sauce and Xmas Eves are all staples in the Bevilacqua household, and this will be carried on for generations because of what was started. Her wit, sense of humor and telling it like it is will be missed as she was loved by many.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held for family and friends Sunday, October 25th 2020 from 1pm – 5pm at Palm Mortuary at 1600 S Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, Nevada and at a later date, a celebration of life will be held in New York. Memorial donations can be made in Betty’s honor to http://www.mpnresearchfoundation.org/ to help find a cure for a very rare blood cell cancer called myelofibrosis in lieu of flowers.
