Betty was born on June 25, 1948, in Norway, Michigan, to Doris and Jesse Witz. She was born the fifth child out of thirteen children. She had the pleasure of growing up with her sister Sue as her best friend. When Betty was 13 years old her family made the move to Nevada. And this was where she chose to live her life.
In 1965 Betty achieved one of her greatest accomplishments: she became a mother to Kimberly Sue Thomas, and in 1967 she welcomed her second daughter Shauna Marie Thomas to their family. Shauna and Kimberly were her world and she lived for them. Unfortunately, her world was shattered in 2015 when Shauna unexpectedly passed away and then again in 2021 when Kimberly passed away. In 1983 her first grandson Ryan Joel Thomas was born. Betty and the love of her life Lewis Overcast had the privilege of raising Ryan as if he was their own. He quickly became her world and she loved him very much. Betty found great joy in her kids and even more joy in her grandkids and great grandkids. She was so proud of all of them and loved everyone with everything that she had.
In the late 1980’s Betty was a server at a Local Denny’s in Las Vegas, Nevada, this forever changed her life. She had a regular customer named Lewis Overcast, and they sparked a romance and they have loved each other ever since. Betty and Lewis were made for each other; they drove each other crazy, but no one loved more or harder than these two. They were crazy about each other. Their favorite thing to do together was to carry on their Sunday morning tradition and have breakfast at the El Cortez Hotel in Las Vegas. The love they have for each other is magical, and one that others only dream of having.
Betty worked for the Clark County School District for 25 years. She worked in the cafeteria at Western High School for the whole 25 years. This quickly became a passion of hers and she enjoyed the kids so much! She would often take her grandkids to the school with her on the weekends and they would help her with her ordering, she loved to include them with everything she did when they were around.
Betty is survived by her husband Lewis Overcast. Her children: Lewis Overcast JR, DeLynn Thomann, Lawrence Overcast, Dennis (Angela) Overcast, Joetta Copeland, Gennetta Butler.
