On July 25th, 2017 heaven called a new angel home. Beverly Ann Maxwell passed away with grace at Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center at 5:50 pm in Las Vegas, Nevada with her daughter and niece Erika Gilbert by her side. Born Beverly Ann Wilson on April 4th, 1954 to the late Jessie and Moses Wilson; Beverly was a soul predesigned for strength and talent. Entering this world prematurely and weighing under a single pound, Beverly proved that life’s battles were only momentary from the beginning. The Lord blessed Beverly with her mother’s strength and her father’s musical passion and flair. Her greatest talent; however, was her ability to overcome obstacles all the while embracing the beauty of simply living life to the fullest throughout any circumstance. Beverly attended Elyria High school in Lorain county, Ohio. There she met Ike Maxwell, a current record holding football player to date. They were later married and together had three children; Angela, Omar and Marcus Maxwell. When tragedy entered her young family’s life, Beverly held on to her love for her children and turned to her faith in God for the strength and guidance she needed to pursue a life of happiness and security for them. She selflessly sacrificed her own comfort and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada; where she joined her two sisters, Toni Jones and Deborah Burton. Soon thereafter, she became a member of the Calvary Southern Baptist Church where she sang nothing short of angelic in their choir for over 25 years. Church, faith and family were Beverly’s priority and a staple source of joy in her life. Beverly was employed with the Clark County School District where she made the health and well-being of its youth her daily concern during the academic year. On her time off in the summer, Beverly worked at Hush Puppies Restaurant where she would regularly light up the room with her classic Birthday Melody that made countless individuals feel special on their day. In her free time, Beverly enjoyed following sports, including Collegiate as well as NBA and NFL games. Throughout her life, Beverly sang and recorded with some of the industry’s leading musicians and became the lead singer of the award winning band April Rain. Over the years, the fruits of Beverly’s labor and sacrifice set forth and her family expanded when her sons were married and gave her the gift of grandchildren. She went above and beyond to display her presence, support and affection for her family. Beverly is survived by her children; Angela, Omar(Gena), and Marcus(Tiffany) Maxwell as well as five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. This includes the children of her oldest son Omar; his daughter, Erica Monique Maxwell and her son Omari Ryan Connelly as well as Omar’s youngest son, Courtney Alexander Maxwell. The children of Beverly’s youngest son, Marcus; Markus Alexander, AnaMichelle and NathanAmelio Maxwell. Beverly reunites with her parents, sister Deborah Burton and brother Anthony Wilson. She leaves to honor and cherish her memory; her sister Toni Jones, brothers Eric(Falilath) Wilson and Robert(Linda) Woolbright. Half brothers and sister; Al Williams, O’Shea and Monique Wilson. Best friend, Linda Bush and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Beverly touched the lives of everyone she knew. Her earthly presence will be missed, but her angelic abilities will be appreciated and recognized daily by all whom loved her. She is our angel.
