

Bonnie Bess Davis was born on October 24, 1941, in Mt. Enterprise, Texas, to the late Robert Davis Sr. and Dessie Lee Davis. She was the sixth of nine children. The family later moved to Lubbock, Texas, where Bonnie accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of the Church of Christ. As a straight-A student, Bonnie skipped a grade in elementary school, and graduated from Dunbar High School in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of sixteen. She then went on to become an alumnus of Southwestern Christian College in Terrell, Texas, before continuing her education at Texas Tech University.
In 1962, Bonnie moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she met her first love, Willie Clyde Juniel. They married in 1964 and had one daughter, Sharla Yvette Juniel. Later, Bonnie met Charles C. York, and they shared a loving union for twenty years. She placed her membership at the Las Vegas Church of Christ on Martin Luther King Blvd.
Bonnie's career included twelve years with the United States Postal Service. She then enjoyed nearly forty years as a highly successful real estate agent, where she built a reputation for her dedication, expertise, and unmatched work ethic. Her success was reflected in her consistent recognition as a million-dollar salesperson for multiple years. Bonnie served as the former Basileus of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Beta Eta Theta chapter. A dedicated community servant, she was named one of the 100 Most Influential Black Vegans. She was active with the Zoning Board, UNLV Football Foundation, NAACP, Black Chamber of Commerce, and served as a political consultant for numerous campaigns.
Known for her green thumb, Bonnie cared for over 200 potted plants. Her legacy in gardening will live on
through the many people she introduced to the world of growing succulents. Bonnie also enjoyed world-
traveling and hosting gatherings with family and friends in the backyard.
On January 27, 2025, Bonnie transitioned and joined her heavenly Father. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Willie C. Juniel, parents, Robert and Dessie Lee Davis, along with eight siblings: Robert Davis, Jr, Bobbie Davis, Cecil Davis, Lamarr Davis, Ray Davis, Betty Jackson, Felton Davis and Roy Davis. Bonnie is survived by her loving daughter, Sharla Juniel, her life partner of 20 years, Charles York, fur-baby, Ferghee Juniel, two sister-in-laws: Delores Davis and Juanita Juniel.. She is also survived by her bonus-sisters, bonus-brothers, bonus-sons, Godson, and Goddaughter. Lastly, she leaves to cherish her precious nieces, nephews, other close friends and relatives, all of whom she cherished deeply.
A visitation for Bonnie will be held Friday, February 14, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Palm Mortuary - Downtown, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101. A funeral service will occur Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101. A committal service will occur Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Palm Downtown Mortuary & Cemetery, 1325 N Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101.
