Utah was a special place where Brackin and his brother spent many weekends, summers, and holidays, with their maternal grandparents, exploring Duck Creek. While growing up, Brackin spent several summers traveling across the United States with his brother, Bowe, and their grandparents. He loved history and nature and enjoyed visiting historical landmarks throughout the country, including Mount Rushmore, Deadwood – SD, Washington, DC, and Nashville, Memphis, TN in all he had been to 26 states and most recently Alaska.
Every July, Brackin and his brother traveled to their Paternal Grandparents home in Mackay, Idaho. There, he rode 4-wheelers, fished, and Loved searching the ground for interesting looking rocks. One afternoon, while riding 4-wheelers with his family, they stopped for a rest, and, as was his habit, Brackin wandered off exploring the area. To his amazement, he discovered a three-inch arrowhead lying near a creek. He excitedly came back to share his incredible find, proudly imagining how it was his to “find.”
Brackin had a natural eye for beauty, capturing photographs wherever he traveled. He learned his love for photography from his mom and his maternal grandfather, who were always taking pictures and capturing special moments. Sunsets were a particular focal point and interest for Brackin. He would often stop to admire and appreciate a colorful and vibrant sky.
Brackin and his dad shared a deep love for basketball. Brackin was a devoted fan of the Boston Celtics, while his dad cheered for the LA Lakers. Their friendly rivalry became something they talked about and bonded over throughout his childhood. Phil even coached his basketball team at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and later built a half-court in their backyard. It quickly became the place to be, where Brackin and his friends spent countless days and nights shooting hoops and making memories. They even had yearly football rivalries where Jami and Brackin would cheer for the Patriots, while Phil and Bowe would root for the Steelers. It was never a dull moment during football season.
Brackin’s brother, Bowe, went into the Navy in April of 2025, Brackin was SO PROUD of him. Later, he traveled to attend Bowe’s graduation in Great Lakes, Illinois and did a quick trip visiting Wisconsin. This past November, Brackin and his mother, flew to Jacksonville, Daytona, and St. Augustine in Florida to celebrate, Bowe turning 21. It included a drive to Savannah, Georgia – a trip they would always remember. The brothers moments of laughter, brotherly bonding, and meaningful time together with their mom, as they explored new cities. It was a simple, unforgettable time they would carry with them forever. BRACKIN LOVED HIS BROTHER BOWE MORE THAN ANYTHING.
