It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, and friend, Brooke Michelle Friary, who passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 29, 2025. She was just 29 years old.
Born and raised in Las Vegas, Brooke carried the sparkle of her hometown wherever she went. After graduating from high school and earning her license as a Medical Assistant, her pursuit in her medical career led her to Denver, where she ultimately chose to stay, drawn to the city’s friendly atmosphere. She took great pride in making her house a wonderful home and dreamed of one day becoming a nurse. Though her last few years were spent navigating health challenges, Brooke often said those experiences, while difficult, would one day make her a better nurse and more able to help others.
Brooke had a deeply nurturing heart and a lifelong love for animals. From her early days with her family dog, Lucky, their cat Kitten, and her cherished bunnies, she always found comfort in the presence of animals. But without a doubt, her life’s greatest joy was being a devoted cat mom. First to Chester and Luna, and later to Cleo, Brooke adored her cats beyond measure—they were truly the center of her world. If you knew her well, you likely received one of her annual Christmas cards featuring the cats with Santa <3
When Brooke was truly happy, she could light up a room with her radiant smile and the unmistakable twinkle in her eyes. She found joy in the magic of Disney, the adventures of Harry Potter, the allure of the Cheshire Cat, and cheered passionately for her favorite hockey team, the Vegas Golden Knights. No matter what it was, she was the ultimate fan. When she found something she loved, she was 110% devoted. When it came to bands like Asking Alexandria or Crown the Empire, she was not content with simply going to the concert, and would go to great lengths to meet the band, or get their autograph and photos. She joined a local Vegas group of like-minded Vegas Golden Knights fans, entirely on her own, and found a new community and friends to attend every game decked out in VGK gear to cheer them on. Her passion was inspiring and contagious.
Brooke was the kind of person who gave freely of herself. She was compassionate, always ready to help a friend, full of drive, and up for a good time. Fiercely capable and independent, she also had a bold, spitfire spirit—with a healthy dash of sass. Brooke was, without a doubt, unapologetically herself.
Brooke leaves behind a legacy of an adventurous spirit, wonder, and unwavering love for those around her, both two- and four-legged. Her life was too short. There is a list of all the future things she would have loved that we’ll never get to know, that we’ll never get to share with her, and years of seeing her cats grow up that she won’t be experiencing earthbound. And yet, her presence is felt in an unexpected Cheshire Cat quote, a cat doodled on a Starbucks cup, and every cat we happen upon. Something that especially brings us comfort is knowing that, even now, Brooke is surely laughing from above, watching her mom, who is “not a cat person”, take
over as cat mom to Luna and Cleo. Brooke always found it hilarious (and thoroughly photo documented) how much they loved her mom despite her never seeking their affection.
Brooke will be missed more deeply than words can convey. But her light continues to shine in every memory, every shared laugh, and in every joy we carry forward in her honor. We will keep doing the things she loved, knowing that our joy will reach her and that her adventures aren’t over.
These words that brought Brooke so much comfort when her cat, Chester, passed away now bring us comfort.
“When you see me in your dreams, I’m really there. When you see me in the distance, that’s me. When you sense and feel me around the house, I’m there. I have not left you, I’ll always be by your side and in your heart.”
A celebration of Brooke’s life will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Palm Northwest Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local animal shelter in Brooke’s honor.
Fond memories and heartfelt condolences may be left at www.palmnorthwest.com.
