After graduating from Central High School in Omaha she trained to be a Cosmetologist and was a Salon owner in Omaha, Las Vegas and Boulder City.
She attended summer classes in Education at UC Berkeley and UA Flagstaff to enhance her later career as a teacher in the Cosmetology department at SE Voc Tech High School (now SECTA) in Henderson. She recently set up four financial assistance scholarships for cosmetology students at the school.
She has a passion for crocheting making booties/blankets/caps for preemies at UMC, lap robes for the veterans home in Boulder City and caps for the homeless at Catholic Charities. Additionally, she taught crocheting classes to the residents at Las Ventanas where she lived. She also founded a Red Hat group in Sun City and was its Queen Mother.
Carmela will be remembered by her family and friends for her beautiful smile for everyone, her ever ready words of friendship and encouragement, and her loving hugs when needed.
Carmela was preceded in death by her parents, Sebastiano and Josephine Sacca, and husbands: Fred Perkins and Lindy Eckenberg.
Carmela was the loving wife of Francis (Frank) Linsmeier for the past 20 years. She also is survived by her son, Chuck Eckenberg and his fiancé Patty Greenway of Las Vegas; five Linsmeier stepsons and spouses; Tom & Fran, Dave & Patty, Bill & Laura, Jim & Kristi and Mark all from Wisconsin; three Linsmeier stepdaughters and spouses; Nancy & Paul Peckham, Patty Scott Jackson from Wisconsin, and Alice and Eric DeBode from California. She is further survived by 20 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and a sister, Mary Badagliacca of Las Vegas.
Father Marc Howes, Pastor, will preside at the Celebration of Life Mass on Tuesday, July 24. 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Husband of Mary Catholic Church. Donations are requested to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers. The burial will be private at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City.
