NORTH LAS VEGAS—Carmella (Iatarola) Kloppenburg, 64, went home to be with the Lord on May 8th, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Carmella loved her husband and family with all her heart. She was the Queen of Las Vegas entertainment & hospitality. Before her husband, Tech Sargent Frank Kloppenburg, retired from 20 years in the Air Force, they lived and traveled the world in Europe and the USA before landing in Las Vegas for the past 25 years. Carmella was born in Gary, Indiana and graduated from William A Wirt High School in 1975 and went to work at Bethlehem Steel. She soon married the love of her life as he began a military career.
Carmella is survived by her loving husband, Frank Kloppenburg of 41 years. She is also survived by her brother, sisters and brother-in-law, Tom (Theresa) Iatarola, Heinz (Donna) Kloppenburg, Lita Iatarola-Filippo, Marci (Kevin) Crozier, Teresa (John) Arroyo, and her “bestie” baby sister, JoEtta (Glenn) Bonnetts. Other loved ones include nieces & nephews, that she held very dear to her heart including, Rob (JoAnna) Kloppenburg, Heidi Kloppenburg, Courtney (Alex) Respess, Anthony Iatarola, Joseph (Marci) Arroyo, Casey Crozier, Nick Arroyo, Crystal Bonnetts, Brandon Bonnetts, Benjamin Kloppenburg, and great-nephew Tommy Koranda. Anne Marie Kloppenburg, her loving mother-in-law, will forever be in her heart. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Ralph and Angeline Iatarola, father-in-law, Heinz Kloppenburg, sisterin-law, Evelyn Kloppenburg, and brother-in-law, Ralph Kloppenburg. Carmella loved to entertain, cook, travel, enjoy shows and play video poker at her favorite local casinos. Holidays were special family traditions to her. She opened her home to all that loved her. Her compassionate heart and generous soul made visiting her a joyous occasion and created many fond memories.
A Memorial/Celebration of Life will be held at Miller Beach Aquatorium, 6918 Oak Avenue in Gary, IN on Thursday, July 7th from 4-7pm to visit family & friends. Formal services to honor her life will be held in Las Vegas at the Southern Nevada Memorial Veteran’s Cemetery, 1900 Veteran’s Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005, on July 19th at 11:20 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of their choice.
