

Catherine J. Mainwal, known to her friends and family as "Mummers" or "Pat," of Las Vegas, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013, from an extended bout with Alzheimer's disease. She was born July 6, 1935, in Detroit, but was a resident of Las Vegas, and local business co-owner of Mr. Pool and Mrs. Patio since 1972. She was preceded in death by one of her daughters, Shannon Atkinson. She is survived by her husband, Leo; her daughters, Terry Beck, Sandie Dorn and Robin Wright, all of Las Vegas; her son, P.D. Atkinson of Las Vegas; her stepdaughters, Sandie Mainwal-Price of Vero Beach, Fla., and Robin Mainwal of Las Vegas; and her stepson, Leslie Mainwal of Simi Valley, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She will be missed by four furry, friendly, four-legged family pets, two, Rookie and Sissy, cared for by her daughter, Robin Wright, and two, Sato and Ninnie, cared for by stepdaughter, Robin Mainwal. She will be especially missed by Foxy, her own four-legged family friend. The things that Mummers enjoyed were water sports, fishing, riding with her husband, Leo, on the motorcycle, dancing and, most of all, having a family get together for volleyball in the backyard. There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Monday, April 15, at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., in Las Vegas. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the non-profit Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 Swenson St. Arrangements under the direction of Palm South Jones Mortuary, Las Vegas, NV.
