Cathleen Sebresos Goo, a graceful spirit known for her faith, elegance, and unwavering devotion to family, returned to her Lord on July 12, 2025, at her home in Las Vegas, surrounded by those who loved her dearly. She was 76 years old.
Born prematurely on December 27, 1948, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Violetta Lopez and Bertram Sebresos, Cathleen entered the world at just 2.5 pounds, spending her early days at Tripler Army Medical Center. She grew up in the lush Maunawili Valley, nurtured by her grandmother Laurencia and Benny “Honey” Igarta, alongside her siblings Bertram, Wendell, Marilyn and Tim. She continued learning the value of “ohana” as other siblings Jason, and Lolita joined the family.
A proud graduate of Kailua High School in 1967, Cathleen shined in the spotlight—excelling in drama and even portraying her brother's Vietnam experience in a touching one-act play. That same year, she became the second attendant in the Miss Hawaii Filipina pageant, a testament to her poise and vibrant personality.
Cathleen’s career was as versatile as her passions: she served as an Assistant Supervisor at First Hawaiian Bank and later thrived as a retail manager at JCPenney, specializing in interior décor, makeup, and jewelry. Her impeccable style extended beyond work—she curated an iconic purse collection, always accessorized with flair.
Her heart found its match in Theodore “Teddy” Goo, whose love revealed itself in acts of kindness and devotion. Despite early hesitations and humorous family objections, Teddy’s generosity and steadfast support won over both Cathleen and her grandmother, marking the beginning of their enduring love story.
Cathleen’s life was deeply rooted in spiritual service. She led the Women Apostolate’s musical ministry, writing songs, choreographing performances, hosting rehearsals, and even releasing an album. The Women Apostolate’s “Grace” album tour booked performances throughout the Western United States and once performed in New York, touching countless lives. Her ministry later evolved into heartfelt scripture study and powerful letter writing that many considered sermons in their own right.
Never one to shy away from creativity, Cathleen launched Basket Elegance—a business featuring custom gift baskets. She relished classy dinners and early breakfasts, delighting in the joy of good company and warm meals.
Her pets—Prince, Missy, Jack, Russell, and Bubba—were not just companions but beloved members of her household. Stories of Bubba and Missy’s mischievous adventures remain family favorites. She extended her nurturing spirit to people too, helping friends in need like Sonia, May, and their families.
Among her most cherished memories was dining at the Elephant and Castle in Waimalu, and taking her nieces to Marie Callender's at Pearlridge Mall. She loved giggling her way through amusement parks and laughing about getting stuck in the spinning tunnel at Lagoon in Utah.
In her final years, Cathleen put forth her best efforts to organize the Believe musical ministry. Together with her sister, Marilyn, friend Sonia, and niece Jainah, Believe shared spiritual grace throughout the Las Vegas area, singing songs and sharing the good word of God at hospitals, rehab facilities and parties. Cathleen strove to share her message to the very end, even writing a new song for her hospice nurse, Mickey.
Cathleen lived with fierce devotion and gentle humor. She supported her husband through daily dialysis trips, proving love’s resilience in every challenge. She lifted others with grace, faith, and warmth—leaving behind a legacy stitched together with elegance, prayer, music, and family unity.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
