July 2, 1965 – July 11, 2025
Celisa Marie Willette McKee, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, nurse, and veteran, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, at home in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the age of 60, after a courageous battle with ALS. Born on July 2, 1965, in Pierre, South Dakota, Celisa lived a life defined by service, compassion, and an unwavering love for her family.
Celisa leaves behind her beloved spouse, Shon McKee, with whom she shared a life filled with love and mutual support in Las Vegas. She was a proud mother to her four children: Derick Young (Tawney), Philip Young (Abi), Brett Maciech, and Hunter Maciech (Kayla), as well as her bonus daughter, Morgan McKee. Celisa’s five grandchildren brought her immense joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She is also survived by her mother, Kathryn Williams, and her sisters, Jamie Cathey (Justin), Holly Hernandez and brother James Hernandez (Sarah). Celisa was welcomed into eternity by her father, Corliss Willette, along with several cherished siblings, who’s spirits remain ever near.
A dedicated patriot, Celisa served 12 years in the United States Army, including during the Gulf War, where her bravery and commitment shone brightly. After her military service, she pursued her true calling as a registered nurse, amassing over 20 years of experience in acute care, 12 years in urgent and emergent care, and 8.5 years in unique specialty patient care. From 2014 to 2017, she served as Chief RN for the 10th Special Forces Group, a role she took immense pride in. Celisas' passion for nursing was boundless; she often said she would work seven days a week if she could, a testament to her dedication to caring for others.
An avid supporter of the Denver Broncos, Celisa's enthusiasm for the team brought joy and camaraderie to her life, as she cheered them on with unwavering loyalty season after season.
Diagnosed with ALS in April 2021 by the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona, after symptoms began in 2018, Celisa faced her illness with the same strength and grace that defined her life. Her resilience inspired all who knew her, and her legacy of kindness and caregiving will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
A memorial service to celebrate Celisa’s life will be held in Casper, Wyoming, on September 27, 2025, with the location and time to be determined. The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to ALS charities or animal shelters in her honor, reflecting her lifelong commitment to helping others.
Celisa will be deeply missed, but her warmth, courage, and love will forever remain with her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
