Charles (Charlie or Chuck) Franklin Kesling passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026, in his home surrounded by family. In his final moments, his loving wife of 43-years, Norma Jean Kesling, was by his side, entrusting him into the loving arms of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, and welcoming him into the embrace of his heavenly family.
Dad/Papa/Charlie was an amazing man who truly loved his family, which was defined by love and not blood. He and his wife Norma were known for welcoming everyone into their home, hearts and family which includes eight children (Tim, Kristen, Steve, Nora-Lee, Robert, Jennifer, Kristina and Heather), 16 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, with another on the way; and one, great-great grandchild. Charlie was the last of his siblings, including four brothers and two sisters, to leave this earth and they were patiently waiting for him with drinks, golf clubs and card games in hand.
Charlie was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, but moved to Findlay, Ohio, where he worked as an accountant. He met the love of his life, Norma and they married in 1982, uniting two families in love. They chose to retire in Las Vegas, calling the city home for the past 24 years. While in Las Vegas he became a pillar of his church, Holy Spirit Lutheran, and of the community supporting multiple organizations and charities. He loved working his dream, retirement job of golf course director; sang in a barbershop group and was honored to have been Santa Claus for his church and multiple charitable events including Nellis AFB where he got to taxi up in his F-16 sleigh. He loved his city, community, church, and most of all, his family.
He was an avid sports fan who loved the Golden Knights, Las Vegas Aces, Detroit Tigers, any golf tournament and most of all, the greatest college team of all time – THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES! There was no better day for him than a good ole victory over the team up north (Xichigan Wolverines). And he was full of adventure, whether riding and showing horses in his earlier days, or sky diving with his children and grandchildren for his 90th birthday with YOLO (You Only Live Once) written on his hands.
He was a great listener, a leader, a mentor and our best friend. But above all, Charlie was the heart of this family - an amazing father, husband and grandfather with a heart of gold and hugs that were beyond comparison. He loved all his children and grandchildren in his own special way and smiled with such pride whenever he had family nearby. Most of all he loved his beautiful bride more than words could ever express.
His faith, strength, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him, and his memory will be cherished forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church located at 6670 W Cheyenne Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89108 on Saturday, August 15, 2026. The service will begin at 1:30 pm with a gathering for friends and family immediately following from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to Holy Spirit Lutheran Church https://www.holyspiritlasvegas.org/resources-and-giving in “Honor of Charles Kesling”. All contributions will be put toward a playground for the church to foster community engagement, which was a project close to his heart.
