Carl is a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from December 1940 to December 1943, and was given a discharge for being disabled. Carl will be buried at noon Tuesday, May 11, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Boulder City. Carl also was a terrific husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, of over 66 years, Sylvia; along with his children, Rhonda Pollock of Pahrump, and Monte Marden of Temecula, Calif. Carl was a proud grandfather to Dennis Pollock of Windsor, Colo., David Marden of Las Vegas, and Bryan and Eric Marden of Temecula. Two of Carl's grandsons had sons of their own, and he was an adoring great-grandpa to his great-grandsons, Hayden and Addison Pollock and Jacob Marden. Carl is also survived by his granddaughter-in-law, Jennifer Pollock of Windsor, Colo.; daughter-in-law, Patricia Marden of Temecula; and brothers-in-law, Sam and Harold Halpern and their families. Carl took family very seriously and was always ready for a family gathering. Carl also was a member of the Jewish War Veterans Post 64, the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion - Post 0076. For his 88th birthday, April 23, 2010, Carl was in the hospital, but we made it a fun day with a couple of cakes and lots of loving people. Just before entering the hospital, Carl spent quality time with his grandson, Dennis, and his family. He and his wife, Jennifer, and their two boys, Hayden and Addison, spent a couple of days listening to all kinds of stories from Grandpa, going back to when he was in the Army. They, along with Grandma Sylvia had some good laughs during those days. "Yes" - Carl, Dad, Grandpa "Pop" will be missed. Arrangements under the direction of Palm Summerlin-Funeral Home, Las Vegas, NV.
