Charles Leonard Pierce, a fun-loving uncle, a loving friend, a motivational speaker, and a businessman passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the age of 71. He was born February 23, 1947 to Della Pierce, and was raised in Chester, PA with his two siblings, Alan Pierce and Elayne Pierce Driggins. Charles served his country during the Vietnam War in the U. S. Army.
Charles was an avid reader, a sports fanatic, and a business owner. His store in downtown Chester was Humanity United for a New Destiny (HUND). Now that is a name to remember. He would entertain his customers by singing and dancing which love to do, but we all knew, he could not do either. Charles was also known for his healthy appetite, his blackjack/Spanish 21 strategies, his intellectual stimulating conversations, and not to forget, his fashionable tailor made stylish and colorful wardrobe, including his hats, shoes and glasses.
In addition, Charles was known by many names in the community such as, “40”, Big Mack, Uncle Leonard, “Old Man” and Brother Charles. However, just as he had many names, trust and believe he had many endearing names for you, including, Lemonhead, Apple Pie, Mrs. Griswald, Ma Winger, Charlie the Head, Woodenhead, Brother Ugly, and the Ugly American, just to name a few. How about this, even GOD made the list, “Pie in the Sky”.
Charles had made an impact into the lives of many as a mentor, a father figure, a confidant, a road dog and a special caring friend.
Charles had a love for knowledge with a gift to share it with others; however, his greatest love was loving his family and friends. Charles's laugh and great presences will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Della Pierce and sister, Elayne Pierce Driggins.
Charles leaves to cherish is memory, his brother, Alan Pierce; three nephews, Robert (Gladys) Driggins, Charles Driggins, and Shawn (Crystal) Driggins; his niece, Charlota Byrd; several great nieces and nephews; his one and only special devoted friend, Debbie; his extended family, Furillo's Hoagie Shop, and friends.
