

Chris relocated to Las Vegas in 1999 with his father and sister. Chris quickly began to make life-long friends. As a Boy Scout, he learned many positive characteristics and traits that he applied throughout his life.
Constantly holding himself accountable, Chris made every effort to live life with a high degree of perfection. Chris was a ROTC Member for three years at Palo Verde High School, where he graduated in 2009. Upon graduating high school, Christopher immediately followed his dreams and joined the U.S. Coast Guard. He recently received Sailor of the Quarter and was nominated for Sailor of the Year.
Chris, affectionately called “CHANGO” by his father and “BUCHI” by his sister, touched the lives of many people with his smile and contagious laughter. He was an excellent and phenomenal friend to anyone he met.
Chris was preceded in death by his mother Irma Lopez Castillo. He is survived by his father, Ruben Castillo, sister, Tabitha Castillo; step-mother, Teresa Smith; paternal grandmother, Angelica Castillo; Aunts: Mary Valladolid, Renee Castillo, Delfa (Manuel) Tersero, Socorro (Hector) Garcia; Uncles: Frankie (Marranita) Vasquez,Carlos (Rosa) Lopez, Alfred (Sandra) Lopez, Marco (Rosa) Lopez, Rosario (Ana) Lopez; his extended family from the U.S.S. Thetis and many other friends and family who were blessed to have known him.
