Christopher C. Franklin was born on March 18, 1941, in Chandler, Oklahoma, to Christopher C. Franklin Sr. and Helen Franklin. The family later moved to Fresno, California, where Christopher was raised.
Those who knew and loved Christopher affectionately called him Chris. Chris graduated from Washington Union High School, where Chris excelled as an exceptional baseball player. Chris viewed the world as a grand adventure and sought to experience as much of life as possible.
After high school, Chris attended Job Corps and later enlisted in the United States Army, where participation in the Color Guard was a course of great pride and honor. Chris also attended Fresno Community College. Over the years, Chris pursued many paths, working as a bus and truck driver, construction worker, and radio DJ, before discovering a true passion as an Ironworker.
Chris had a deep love for horses. While living in Carmel, California, mornings were often spent riding horses along the beach. Chris cherished time with two great-danes, which brought much joy and companionship. A love for the outdoors, especially fishing, was constant throughout life. Chris was known for a warm smile, a wonderful sense of humor, and a love for laughter that brought joy to everyone around.
More than 30 years ago, Chris accepted Jesus Christ and devoted life fully to faith. A strong belief in the Lord guided daily living, and Chris often shared testimony of God’s goodness with anyone willing to listen.
On February 17, 2001, Chris married the love of his life, Renee Ashby.
Chris was blessed with four daughters: Asha Franklin-Roy, Aisha Franklin-Cole, Destinee’ Franklin, and other daughter as well as two stepsons, Demetrius Farrar and William Ashby.
