On Monday March 16, 2026, our Mother Cindy Le Fuller passed on. Born “Lê Thị Xuân Nghĩa,” in Biên Hòa, South Vietnam on December 20, 1941, to mother-Đặng Thị Tiếm and father- Lê Dăng Phan. She passed leaving behind a legacy of extraordinary courage, resilience, and love. Cindy’s spirit was defined by her determination, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family and to all those she cared for.
In 1969, during the turmoil of the Vietnam War, Cindy demonstrated remarkable bravery. She married an American Army Serviceman (Frank G. Townsend) and, with immense courage, brought her three children—Van Bourgois-Stanhope, Snow-Velvet Townsend, and Tuấn Hoang Townsend and mother to the United States. Together they began a new chapter, embracing the challenges of a new country with hope, perseverance, and determination.
As a mother, Cindy was fiercely protective, nurturing, and steadfast. She worked tirelessly to build a foundation so her family could thrive and pursue their dreams. Her sacrifices and dedication ensured that her children had opportunities she had always dreamed of for them, and her love remained the guiding force in their lives.
Cindy began her life in the United States first living in Colorado before moving to Illinois, Indiana, Florida, and finally Las Vegas, Nevada. She divorced Mr. Townsend in 1972 and later married Robert L. Fuller, in 1978, in Springfield, Illinois. They moved later that year to Merrillville, Indiana, where they lived together until Mr. Fuller’s passing in 2001.
In 2002, Cindy’s children moved her to Bradenton, Florida, so she could be closer to her daughter and enjoy a warmer climate away from the harsh winters. She lived there until 2006, when she made her final move to Las Vegas, Nevada with her companion Dr. Trần Duy Tự. Dr. Trần passed in August 2022. In May 2024, Cindy’s son and daughter-in-law Anita Mawby moved to Las Vegas, to care for her in their new home.
Cindy was a deeply generous and compassionate person. Throughout the years she regularly sent money to Vietnam to help care for her mother, brother, and other relatives. She also donated to many temples and orphanages in Vietnam, as well as temples in the United States. Her kindness and generosity touched countless lives, and her legacy of giving will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Cindy found solace and joy in poetry, painting, and art throughout her life. She especially cherished her visits to the temple, where she often sought spiritual comfort and inspiration. These hobbies not only nurtured her creativity but also deepened her connection to her heritage. In her later years living in Las Vegas, Cindy also enjoyed spending time at local casinos, appreciating both the lively atmosphere and the opportunity to socialize with friends.
She is survived by her three children, daughter-in-law Anita Mawby, sons-in-law Chance Reti and Rick Bergen; her three grandsons, Dian Squire, Matthieu Bourgois, and Colin Bourgois; and a great-grandchild expected in August 2026, close cousins Nguyệt Thị Pforr, Thủ Anh Lê, Dũng Thị Lê and many close friends throughout the United States and Vietnam.
Cindy’s life was a story of triumph over adversity, guided by an unbreakable spirit and boundless love for her family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her children, extended family, and all those whose lives she touched. She passed peacefully with all her family beside her.
Visitation will take place at 8:00am on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 followed by Funeral Service at 8:30am at Palm Mortuary - Downtown, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101.
