Concetta Ortega, known as Connie, was a tiny little woman with a Spit Fire personality. Born in Brooklyn, New York to Immigrant parents and had ten sisters and brothers. Two twin boys died at birth, leaving 3 Brothers and 4 sisters. When Connie grew up she found her love for roller skating and met George Ortega, the love of her life. She had one daughter, Grace and then 3 grandchildren, Kim, Stephen and Curt. Connie was a caterer on Wall Street for a large restaurant called the Amberglow. When it was time to retire, she picked up and moved west to join her daughter and grandchildren. She was a widow at 54 years old and just loved being a grandmother and then a great-grandmother of three (Christian, Sarah and Dominic). Connie did a lot of volunteering and has won many awards for it, one by President Clinton. She retired at 84 years old for Catholic Charities and always said “work keeps you young” She was good to everyone, especially her family and will be missed for her wonderful cooking and baking. Her Cream Puffs were well known. She passed away at 96 years old, leaving her last sibling Carmella who is 100 years old. “NANA” as we all knew her will be missed by all.
May she rest in peace.
