Neil grew up on the farm as he would say and often had many proclamations as to his being an innocent farm boy in Pinckney made for an interesting and often times on the farm entertaining.
Neil graduated from Pinckney High School, then Neil entered into the Navy which then gave him the opportunity to travel and see parts of the world a farm boy from Pinckney might not have been able to attain on his own. After the Navy Neil then put his efforts into the Education world.
Attending the University of Michigan is where he met his wife, Patricia Umphrey. Neil and Patricia then developed their career passions in the Education Field. Neil married Patricia on August 25, 1956. Their 1st Daughter Kim Elizabeth was born May 20,1959. 2nd Daughter Lisa Ruth was born August 08,1964.
In 1966 Neil moved his family from Michigan to Las Vegas, NV. In 1968 Son David William was born. Neil was an educator for many years. He held the prestigious position as School Principal from 1966-1973 at West Charleston now called Howard A Wasden. He then opened up a brand-new elementary school Tomiyasu in 1974 and Neil retired in 1991.
Neil in his retirement found time to indulge in his projects around the house in remodeling. He did have a fascination for architect designing, taking time to enjoy travel with family and friends.
Neil is preceded in death by his wife Patricia, his brothers, Vincent Baughn, Win Baughn, Bill Baughn, Dutch Baughn. Sisters Virginia ( Ginny) Gilbertson and Betty Seefeild, his parents Earl and Florence Baughn
Neil is survived by his 3 children. Kim Kennedy, her husband Bruce, Lisa Baughn, David Baughn and his wife Kimm. Four loving grandchildren, Amber Kennedy (Steve Bistritz), Heather (Wesley) Coleman, Matthew and Andrew Baughn; and extended family members and friends.
Neil was loved, respected, and protected by his children. They will continue to keep his lessons and love forever in their hearts. His Family and Friends will always keep his legacy alive in all the memories they share. Dad is now back with Mom and all his brothers, sisters, family friends that were so vitally important to him, he knows how much love is shared for each and every one of us.
The family will be hosting a “Happy Hour” in his honor on April 24th from 3 P.M. – 5 P.M., at the family residence.
