Curtis G. Russell passed away April 3, 2011 at home in Las Vegas, Nevada with his family at his side. He was a resident of Las Vegas for about 5 years, moving to Las Vegas from California in early 2006 in order to be closer to his mother Beverly and her husband Bill. Curtis was born in Huntington Park, California February 9, 1960 at Mission Hospital to parents Beverly Ann Davis and Milton Grey Russell. He was outnumbered from the start; being the only son, he was raised with three sisters, Myrna Lynn, Kimberly Marie, and Marlena Ann. They all loved each other yet had their typical childhood rivalries. Beverly often worried about the kids growing up, especially when she received phone calls from the kids while she was at work. Myrna remembers calling Beverly at work to tell her Curtis had “eaten all the beans” and even locking her out of the house at times. Beverly remembers Curtis as having his difficult moments, but having a loving, shy and kind attitude. His sisters remember him, although not one to express his feelings into words, as a helpful soul though often mischievous while a young boy, growing up the siblings always stuck together. Curtis loved to ride his motorcycle and when unable to, enjoyed riding a bicycle. Before his passing, Beverly bought Curtis a white Mongoose bike and although Curtis wasn’t able to ride it much, he loved it. Curtis was always able to travel anywhere on his bike, often finding friends to be with along the way. Curtis loved to watch old movies and funny cartoons. Beverly will forever remember the breakfast and lunch dates that they had going to their favorite restaurants together. Beverly recalls her husband Bill’s special love and devotion to Curtis.
