Big Dave, on the 1 year anniversary of your passing, I was remembering you by looking at your obituary and realized I never wrote anything. I guess I was so shocked and saddened by your passing I overlooked it. So here I go. Better late than never so please forgive me. We’ve been friends since our high school days at Rancho; 1988 was the year. 32 years of friendship bro and the thought of you not being here anymore saddens me. Thanks for all the laughs and the fun times we shared. You were truly one of a kind; a gentle giant. You were an all around good dude and was loved by everyone. Just a genuine person that did not make a single enemy. Rest easy my brother. You’re up there in heaven reunited with your pops. Until we meet again. You will not be forgotten.

To the Burns Family, my continued prayers for you all. May continue to bless you all and strengthen your hearts as I know they are torn. Much love and respect.

Can’t believe I’m writing this about such a great guy that only came with a smile ear to ear and joking and laughing to always start a conversation. Your heart so full of happiness and true joy. I remember you when you bought your purple 2004 GTO and the your plate read “2 fingers” and the plate frame read “and I’m out”, I thought wow that is some true car love. I asked for a ride and you didn’t hesitate to give me a ride in it and pitched sideways around the first corner, I said damn Dave you can drive. Then we ended up on the same crew later down the road, you and I came straight towards each other and I remember you hugging me and saying “welcome to the crew makaveli”. With your big smile and happy talk and I knew this was gonna be special friendship because now we would work together every day. Talking about cars for hours. Every day you came with something new. Every time a new car came out or some special detail about a car you thought was neat, you came straight to me and could explain the details of it word for word. It was truly amazing you remembered every little detail. Dave, you really made life fun and I always looked forward to talking to you. Last time we talked on phone for 2 hours. Last car you schooled me on was a Lexus IFA. God Bless your beautiful soul David and Rest easy David. Your friend Jonny

David you were truly my brother from my other mother. The day I met you in 6th grade I became part of the large extended Burns family. I never thought I would be saying good bye this early. They say what’s known doesn’t have to be said. I know in my heart that you are in a better place. I can see you now sitting playing the game with Big D , while bug and unk are talking mess(not my word but you can’t cuss on here I guess lol). I’ll see you again someday. 🙏🏻
                          I love you Toby Burns

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Praying for your healing, comfort, strength and peace during this painful time.

Auntie and family, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of David. My sincere prayers go out to you all that God will bless and comfort you through this most difficult time.

Remember God cares for you. Take all your burdens to him and he will take care of you. Sorry for your lost .

David,

It's hard to believe you've crossed over. The world is missing a wonderful life. God has called you home but your memory will live on. Thank you for being you. Till we meet again.

The Shepherd family loves you,
Henry Sr., Odessa, Cassundra, Tracy, Omar, Henry Jr. & Montez (GG).

David,
How is it even possible that I'm sitting here sharing memories of you. This is so surreal, I find myself questioning it. Did he really pass?

One of the many memories I have is you and I sitting on the couch always watching (unless it was football Sunday) Diners, Drive Inns and Dives. We'd get so excited when we saw a spot showing us some amazing greasy food that we wanted. We'd say, hey, it would only take 4 hours to drive there eat and come back..Road trip!!!!
I can't look at a clown without thinking about you and laughing. Sorry I know they scared you to death but I got the biggest kick out of that. A tall strong man petrified of them.

Right now I find such comfort knowing your body has been restored the way God our Father created it. No more pain, no more depression, no more frustration, nothing except amazing peace. Peace you so deserve.

Love, Mom #2

Dave, I knew you through my daughter Gena & her husband Daniel & over these past 20+ years I always enjoyed your company, you were always so funny & kind. You were always there for all of my grandbabies, you loved them & they loved back...you were Uncle Dave to them. It's hard to wrap my head around your being gone, you're too young to leave. Your body is whole & at peace now. May you rest in eternal peace in the arms of your Daddy & the angels in heaven. Heaven received another angel😇💞 My prayers & condolences to the Burns family & friends. 🙏

Well David, my chocolate chip, you always lit up when you saw me and Booty when we came to see you. You and Bobo are playing Madden now. You got to see that smile and hear that voice. I hope he met you at the gate. You were my second son. I love you. Bye bye, until we meet again.

David,
Where does one begin when there are a flood of memories to choose from. So today I would like to say thank you.

Thank you for:
•31 years of friendship
•encouraging texts
•making sure I was ok
•being there to support us
•all the silliness and laughter
•sharing movies and gatherings.
•big hugs
•your honesty and constant positivity that always helped other to see a light in dark places
•allowing me to share my faith and love of God with you
•allowing my children and me to pray for you.

All our memories of you are fond ones. This is truly a difficult loss, one that hits deeply to the core. One promise we always made to each other was that we would grow old in friendship. I know you did your best to keep that promise, but I know our Lord had other plans. I trust him for what is best as we release you with lots of tears and sadness, but we have the hope of seeing you once again eternally in heaven on the other side. Until we meet again my dear friend and brother.
With love always ,
Christina

Just heard about David passing. David you have been so many things to do my people. I was glad to call you my friend. You always had a smile on your face which brighten up the whole room. You have earned your wings. Fly high Angel. You will always have a special place in all our hearts. You will be missed but never forgotten. This is not good bye until we meet again. #Ranchoc/o92

David, you entered into our family at a time when my sister Stacey needed you most. You truly saved her life and gave her new purpose. I will forever be grateful to you for that. You were so silly and goofy. I liked your joyful spirit and loved how children adored you. You kept your life on the straight narrow always being a role model for the kids. It was always fun to celebrate our birthdays together as one big family. David, you brought many people together including our families. Your passing has rocked the lives of so many people who knew and loved you. Did you know how much you were loved? I hope you did. The peace that I have is knowing that you’re in the presence of Lord God, our creator. I would imagine that you’re up there telling jokes and sharing laughs with your dad “daddy”, Uncle Leonard, and Derrick. You were very special. You’ll be missed.

When I was born, God gave me two brothers. For most of my life, I never could see one without the other or without hearing them talk mess on the phone. Every Thursday haircut or Sunday full of playing games and watching football and WWE were simple memories full of laughs that I cherish. I remember Brandey and I got on both of y'all nerves all the time and we would be back in there just to be close to you two and because of that, we became close to each other. There are some people who come along only once in a lifetime. David, I miss your smile, your infectious personality, your constant teasing, your fun loving nature, and the love you had for anyone that was fortunate enough to be close to your heart. You're now flying high, healed and restored. I know that Uncle Bug and Bobo were there to meet you and walk with you into the presence of the Lord.

Love, Booty

What can I say that hasn’t already been said? I only knew you for 8 brief years. And while we only knew each other through work, I always thought of you as a friend. You truly were one of the greatest men I ever knew. My heart broke when I heard the news. I will pray for your family to find strength and love through one another. I know that they will because they have you watching over them now. I hope to see you again someday my friend. Rest easy.

I, WE, were so blessed to be able to know you, love you, and cherish you! Your laugh will always be heard in my heart.

Thank you for loving me.

Always and forever

David, you’ve been gone for three days now. I think I’ve been mostly shellshocked. Sitting here reading these memories and trying to figure out what I could share... and then the full enormity of it hit me and the tears finally came. Since that day back on Dogwood Ave when I was still a little junior high kid when our boy Mike first introduced us, you became a huge part of my life. And the hole you leave behind in not just my life but the life of everyone who knew you is equally huge. The way you could light up the room with your laughter especially when you had just clowned one of us for some thing one of us had said or done back on those old endless Sunday afternoons. The way we could always talk about tiny Star Wars details and you were the only person in the room who actually knew what I was talking about. The way you were just a great friend period. Man, I’ll miss you. Rest In Peace David. Your Friend Always, James

David, David,David. I’ve learned in my
45 years to cherish and love true friends. This one was a hard one for me because you are an angel. A true friend. Your humor was not just belly hurting but you were so smart and had that quick wit that no one could touch. Oh and you were handsome! So handsome that the ladies lined up (as you would always always say! Lol) life will be different without you and i am so proud and happy to know that we meet at 18 and my family knew you. You’re resting now with your Daddy and loved ones. Forever peace now. Love The MIller Family. Aka Hoodrat for me.

Who knew when I seen you freshman year of high school when you were sitting on that bench by yourself at lunch kicking that rock that we would become family. 35 years of friendship is a lifetime of happy times. You were a brother to me and a uncle to my kids never missing one. You were always the life of the party or the bartender either way it was always a good time. I will see you again my brother and take care of the rest of the family up there. Rest easy my brother. Best friends 1985- eternity.

David....God brought me you when He knew I needed you. You saved my life. I will forever cherish the life FULL of memories that we made. Your imprint is forever in my heart. I will take care of all of your babies for the rest of my life, you can trust me with that. Im so thankful we have you as our Guardian Angel, you have always been our protector now you’re our protector with wings.
