Born on February 13, 1945, in Los Angeles, California, David lived a life marked by faith, service, integrity, and joy. He was known to all as a kind and elegant man—quiet but warm, deeply thoughtful, and always impeccably dressed. David had a hearty, unmistakable laugh that could light up any room, and a heart big enough to embrace everyone fortunate enough to know him.
David was a proud veteran, having served his country with distinction in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After returning home, he pursued higher education and earned his Business degree from the University of Washington in Seattle, graduating in 1977.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, David had an encyclopedic love of the game—from the Las Vegas Raiders, Lakers, Dodgers, and WNBA to USC Trojans Football and UCLA Bruins Basketball. He was especially passionate about football stats, tennis, golf, and track and field, which he not only followed closely but officiated as a certified track and field, basketball, and football official.
David also gave back through coaching, mentoring countless young athletes in youth football leagues including CAYA (Central Athletic Youth Association) and the Federal Way Hawks. His service extended far beyond the field—he was a 50-year proud and dedicated member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., where he served as the first Regional Director of the Pacific Northwest and Sergeant at Arms for the Western Region. He was also a respected Mason.
David was active and committed to serving his church family. He served as a deacon at Seed of Life Baptist Church in Federal Way, WA. He also served as an usher at Christian Faith Center in Des Moines, WA. When he moved to Las Vegas, he continued his service as an usher at Victory Missionary Baptist where he became a member in 2006. His generosity, loyalty, and devotion to his family, fraternity, and faith community defined his legacy.
