David Allan Onstad, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on March 14, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born in Oklee, Minnesota, to Iver and Emma Onstad and was raised on a farm, where he developed the strong work ethic and generous spirit that defined his life.
David was a true family man who deeply loved those around him. He was known for his kindness, intelligence, and willingness to help anyone in need. Generous with his time and talents, David never complained when lending a hand. Above all, he cherished his beloved wife, Dorris, with whom he shared more than 60 wonderful years of marriage.
A smart and educated man, David earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Dakota. He went on to serve his country through his work on the Minuteman missile program, contributing his skills and dedication during an important time in American history.
David’s roots in farm life stayed with him throughout his life. He enjoyed landscaping, gardening, and anything that allowed him to work with the land. He took special pride in his apricot tree and loved tending to his yard and garden. In his free time, David also enjoyed sports—especially football, basketball, and baseball—and was an enthusiastic fan of the Vegas Golden Knights and the Raiders.
David will be remembered for his warm heart, steady presence, and the love he gave so freely to family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dorris; three children; five grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry forward his legacy of kindness, hard work, and devotion to family.
