Davida T. Rivera Garlington

Devoted to education and community service, Davida dedicated thirty years to the Clark County School District as an ESL Teacher Family Assistant, where she passionately helped families learn English and build brighter futures. A proud advocate for the Hispanic community, she joined the National Association of Latin Americans in 1975 and served as chairperson from 1988 to 1997. Her commitment extended to political activism, as she enthusiastically volunteered throughout various Democratic campaigns, always representing the values and voices of Hispanic families.

In June of 1988, Davida earned a diploma in Religious Education, deepening her faith and fueling her lifelong ministry. For 35 years, she faithfully served as a catechist at Saint Christopher’s Roman Catholic Church, guiding others toward a closer relationship with God. She also devoted time to the Arturo Cambiero Senior Center, demonstrating her boundless compassion and energy.

Davida’s greatest joy came from helping families strengthen their faith and navigate life in a new language. Her legacy is one of love, dedication, and unwavering service to her community and the Lord.

She is survived by her beloved children—John and Paul Garlington, Maria Pena, and Dorothy Delgado—along with her son-in-law, Francisco Delgado. Her life continues through her seven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Davida will be lovingly remembered for her deep devotion to Our Lord and Savior and for the profound impact she made through her kindness, faith, and selfless service. Her memory will forever live in the hearts of those she touched.

A visitation for Davida will be held Sunday, July 27, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Palm Mortuary - Downtown, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101. A funeral service will occur Monday, July 28, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 1840 N Bruce St, North Las Vegas, NV 89030. A committal service will occur Monday, July 28, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Palm Eastern Cemetery, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123.
