Along with his younger brother William Shaver, they lived on a farm in Sutton, West Virginia with father
Clyde, grandmother Lucy and grandfather Reed. They hunted and farmed and went to school. He got his first bicycle at 14.
In 1952 Clyde and Charles left for Las Vegas where he went to Las Vegas High, graduating in 1955.
He then served in the Navy until May of 1961. Charles had three children, Eugene, Scott, and Donna.
He married Evelyn August 25th of 1962. He worked at the Thunderbird Hotel and at several service
stations until he started with Centel Telephone company in 1962. They lived at 3004 E Owens in the
early years before moving to 1508 Arthur St. In 1974 they began working on their new home at 3524 N
Torrey Pines where they worked tirelessly to build their new home for over a year. They moved in over
Thanksgiving of 1976.
Chuck held several jobs at the phone company, he started working in the garage then transferred to the
cable dryer crew. He then studied for his FCC license to be able to transfer to the microwave crew. He
retired in 1996 with 34 years of service.
After he retired he worked for a local gun store for several years. Chuck had many hobbies throughout
his life, from fast cars, go carts, dune buggies, motorcycles, planes, jet ski's and back to go carts and
guns. His pride and joy was his grandfather Reed's 1950 Ford which he rebuilt in the early 2000's. He did
absolutely everything on that car himself, including the paint, except for the upholstery. He made many
friends throughout his life, there was no one he did not offer to help and they were grateful for his
willingness to share his knowledge, there was nothing he could not fix and he usually made it better.
He was a great dad who worked tirelessly for his family and provided for them a wonderful life. We were
very grateful for all he did for his family. Chuck led avery healthy life, except for diabetes, for about 10
years. Then he had a knee replacement and several years later fractured his hip. He became sick with
COVID late August of 2021, he became very weak and despite his family's attentive care he just could
not overcome the multiple effects. He passed away on May 9th, 2022 in his home, and his family was
devastated.
He was preceded in death by his parents Denver Clyde Shaver, Nona M Quickle, and granddaughter
Taylor Marie Shaver. He is survived by wife Evelyn Shaver, brother William Shaver, Children Eugene
Scott and Donna, Grandchildren Cody, Kira, Connor, Sydney, Sierra, Cynthia and Donna, Great grandchildren Adriana, Matt, Jackson, Kenneth and one on the way as well and two great great grandchildren Weston and Kinsley.
